Back in black

Nicole Richie looks better than she has in a long long time. Shopping at Dior in Beverly Hills this week she wore a black jumpsuit with gold accessories. Very nice.

Stripes

Very few can pull off horizontal stripes but Gwen can! Daring, but I think it pays off. It's less than a year since she had her baby and she looks stunning.

Style study

Kate Hudson has great style. She looks very natural and healthy as opposed to many of her other Hollywood colleagues. Whether she’s in a t-shirt and jeans or walking up the red carpet in a designer dress, Kate always looks fantastic.
Here she is wearing a beautiful Versace gown at the 2003 Oscars. In the next picture she is posing with Owen Wilson. Such a nice and happy couple.

Kate has a great personal style off duty too. The grey Thomas Wylde boots are particulary cool.

Rock chic

The rock 'n roll inspired style never dies. Take it all the way in black on black like Ashlee Simpson in this picture or settle with just a hint by combining a fitted leather jacket with a summer dress.
Rock 'n roll elements that looks cool:
- skull scarves
- band t-shirts
- leather bracelets
- motorcycle boots
- worn out jeans
- stud belts

Lash fusion

I want this mascara so bad but can't find it in any stores nearby.
I'm a big fan of LipFusion so my expectations are high.

Would you hire a stylist?

If you were super rich, if you had all the money in the world, would you hire a stylist?
My first thought is that I wouldn't... But then again, if I was rich (and famous?) appearing at public events and red carpets would be a part of my life and I could probably use some help.
In my opinion the best way to succeed in style is to listen to yourself first but also take advice from others. I think most people know best what suits them but we all need some inspiration so I guess hiring a stylist is not a bad idea.

Not all rich and famous people use stylists. I think the latest pictures of Britney show that she really needs one.

One of the most famous Hollywood stylists is Rachel Zoe. Many of the young starlets such Lindsey Lohan and Mischa Barton are her clients. Nicole Richie fired Rachel Zoe late last year. Zoe has been accused of promoting unhealthy body images and Nicole Richie definitively seemed to have some weight problems. Probably a good idea to get a new stylist.

Styling school

Vogue reports that now you can get a degree in styling at the Southampton Solent University. The first of its kind.
The students will get experience in catwalk production, advertising imagery and film costumes.
Today working as a stylist can be a career choice and this course is a great way to get started. The need for stylists has grown the latest years with the increased focus on celebrities and style. A great offer for young upcoming stylists!

Fashion exhibition

I recently went to this exhibition called "Masters of Fashion"/"Mesterlig mote". The idea was to show creations from famous fashion designers from 1895 up until today, a tour through the history of fashion. Original outfits from Chanel, Balenciaga, Pucci, Vivienne Westwood etc were displayed.

It was quite disappointing because unlike a painting a fashion creation can't be displayed hanging still. I want to see it from all sides, study the details and to see how it looks in motion. Besides, the amount of outfits from each era were rather few.
Of course, it was impressing to see an original haute couture creation in real life but the difference from seeing in a photo wasn't that big.
