Gift for myself

We went for some last minute shopping on the day before Christmas Eve and I found this really nice dress I've been looking at for a long time. It was on sale and I just had to get it as a gift for myself. I didn't wrap it but I wore it on Christmas Eve and was very happy with it.

Couples in style

Now that the Christmas season is here with lots of social events why not dress in style with your partner?
It's always nice to see a stylish couple. It doesn't have to mean a matching tie and dress. The idea is that both parts are putting some thought into choosing the outfit. In other words, that both have some sense of fashion.

Here are some of my favourite celebrity couples when it comes to dressing stylish.

Demi + Ashton

Few men dare to dress like Ashton, but who can blame them? Noone else can pull off a pink suit like this! Demi's style is safer and more classic. Looks great together.

Cameron + Justin

Both like to dress casual and have a young fresh style. Not the trendsetting types but they always look cool together.

Victoria + David

Maybe the number one trendsetting couple in the world. Both are always impeccable dressed in the latest trends and most expensive brands.

Ellen + Portia

Portia must be one of the most beautiful women alive and likes to dress very feminine. I love the fact that Ellen keps her masculine style no mather what Portia is wearing and chooses suits in neutral colours. Seing Ellen in a dress would be so unreal.

Beyonce + Jay Z

Bad boy meets glamour girl. Jay Z likes the casual gangster style but doesn't seem to mind getting dressed up when he's out with his diva.

Gwen + Gavin

Original style often with elements from Gwen's own label L.A.M.B. This is an example of not following the latest trends no mather what, but rather develop a personal signature style.

Which couple's style do you like best?

All black

The most elegant colour is black. An all black outfit is very elegant but the line between looking chic and resembling a pale vampire is thin.

The key thing is to create a feminine look. Avoid baggy shapeless clothes and masculine shoes. Think waist belts, heels and slim shapes. Feminine doesn't necessary mean showing off a lot of skin but rather a sharp silhouette.
Make sure the outfit contains different textures, for example leather or lace paired with wool. This gives life to the outfit and makes it more interesting.
Finally, add just a little touch of colour like some red lipstick or a bright pink scarf.

Tom Ford sunglasses

The new Tom Ford "Whitney" sunglases are very popular. Both Angelina and Gwen have been seen wearing lately. I predict we will see a lot of rounder saucer shaped sunglasses this summer.

Celebs in V&R for H&M

How nice to see that the celebs are also wearing clothes from H&M like the rest of us. :)
Both Carmen Electra and Christina Milian recently wore the Viktor and Rolf for H&M blouse. Carmen wore it with shorts and boots, while Christina went for a more classic look with a high-waisted pencil skirt.

Christmas style tip

One great way to wear gold shoes this season is to combine them with thicker black tights. I tried it with an all black outfit. I never thought of wearing these shoes other than in the summer but this is a nice alternative. Add some gold accessories to match.

Gift of the day

I'm such a sucker for a nice dress. On my way to buy Christmas gifts this morning I bumped into the "gift of the day" dress at H&M. It came in 2 colour combinations (nude/black, grey/black) and actually looked better in real life. Unfortunately, or I guess I should say fortunately, they didn't have it in my size. I tried it on in another size and it was quite nice. I regret a little bit not buying it because I think it would fit perfect with a few modifications. But then again, I guess I have enough dresses as it is... But it would be perfect for Christmas Eve... Maybe I'll check it out again tonight....
Well, if you happen to pass by H&M today I recommend you check it out.

Smells like LAMB

The LAMB perfume is born.
Gwen says: "It's very prestigious as a designer to have a fragrance. It's a milestone with L.A.M.B., and I don't want L.A.M.B. to go away. The fragrance makes it feel real, like it'll be here for a little while."

"The whole L.A.M.B. thing is pretty greedy. I'm making it all for me," she says. "The goal with this fragrance is that I'll wear it and have endless bottles of it."

The perfume doesn't have a name yet but will be in stores next fall.

MJ Part 2

Sofi Fahrman is one of the leading fashion gurus in Sweden. She is fashion editor at Aftonbladet and has her own TV fashion column. Amongst other things. She always looks great. I particularity adore her Marc Jacobs boots. They are just wonderful.

I might be wrong but it looks like Gwen wore a pair of MJ boots too on her way to the Letterman Late Show this week.

At the Billboard Awards

Gwen at the billboard awards red carpet last night wearing an asymmetrical Vivienne Westwood dress, LAMB purse, snakeskin heels and a new lip color .
Vivienne Westwood is one of my all-time favourites. I'd give all my money to her and buy all her clothes!

Romance

2 years ago I spent the month before Christmas indoors due to a broken leg. A good friend brought me a bunch of dvd's including the BBC-series "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. Since then it's become a tradition for me to watch it before Christmas.

Every time I watch it my thoughts begin to wander and I can see myself living in this romantic era (the early 19th century). Wearing beautiful dresses, doing ballroom dancing every weekend. Spending my days embroidering, playing the piano and going for walks in the English countryside... :)

Today's trends reflect many of the elements from the way they dressed: uniform jackets, vests, collars, high waists, long gloves and puff sleeves. Let yourself be inspired.

Amazing discoveries

When going for grocery shopping on Friday night I stopped by a clothing shop and noticed they had gotten some new Seven For All Mankind jeans. I remember trying on many of these at Saks in NY this summer but I didn't like the fit. Too short and too wide pockets.
Anyway, I picked it up and looked at the price tag: 3700 NOK! That means more than 600 USD. That is so insane. In US the price lies between 100 and 200 USD. How do they manage to get such a high price? It's the same with R&R jeans while you can get Diesel and others brands at normal prices in Norway. I guess it has something to do with what brands have distributors over here.

Funny stuff

Check out this invention: "pedicure boots for posh toes".
Here in Norway it's not that common to get pedicures or even manicures but in US it's very common (and much cheaper).
The idea behind these boots is that you can get a pedicure without freezing on your way home. Simply put them on like a regular pair of boots before you go to the nail salon. Before you have your toes polished, press the front flap down and slide your foot into the boot. No need to take the boot off.
Well, what can I say? Looks very strange but I must admit it seems a bit practical too.
