Pucci by Matthew Williamson

Many times I've considered buying a Pucci silk scarf. It's way too expensive but there's just something about Emilio Pucci's signature prints that I really like. The pattern is just as modern today as it was in the 60's. Since the death of Emilio Pucci in 1992, the house has been led by his daughter Laudomia Pucci and Christian Lacroix. From fall 2006 Matthew Williamson stepped in and I definitively think he was the right man for the job. His typical colourful floating designs combined with the Pucci prints is a perfect match.

The blues

New York fashion reports from the New York’s Fashion Week that blue is a popular colour for spring 2007. The preferred shade is somewhere between cobalt and royal. Blue is a good colour for me so I hope to see a lot of it in stores.

Another colour that's been seen a lot on the runway is yellow. This is a very difficult colour to wear. It usually takes a tan to make it look good.

New R&R

Rock & Republic named their newest jeans after Gwen Stefani. I don't like this pair. The utility pockets combined with the slender fit is just not a good match.

According to Michael Ball, Rock & Republic's head designer and owner, "The jeans really fit the particular person I'm naming it after". I'm not too sure about that in this case. I can't remember having seen her in skinny jeans, lately she's been wearing the LAMB tractor jeans all the time.

Barbie meets Beetle

Barbie and Beetle have been brought together by Volkswagen and Mattel in this all-pink Beetle Barbie limited edition car. Yes, it's a real size car. Only 13 will be made and they will only go on sale in Mexico. The car is done up completely in pink, with the Barbie logo placed at strategic locations. I must say, Barbie' s got great taste in cars! I love the design of the Beetle but this is a bit too much pink for me.

What not to wear

The next season of "What not to wear" will feature 2 new presenters: supermodel Lisa Butcher and soul singer Mica Paris. Looking forward to seeing the miracles they can perform. Trinny and Susannah did a great job, let's recall their list of style basics:

  • Recognise your assets and choose clothes which flatter this part of your body.
  • Show off your breasts OR your bum, never both in one outfit.
  • If you have love handles or a round tummy, wear textured fabrics and wrap-around tops.
  • If you have a short or wide neck, wear tops that are open at the neck, rather than high or round ones, to lengthen and slim your neck.
  • If your clothes are too tight, you'll look fatter not thinner; straining fabric is a style no-no.

Luxurious

Last night I met my friend for shopping and wow, that girl can shop! I'm the pickiest shopper ever and rarely tries something on. I've been looking at this gorgeous silk dress for a while and she convinced me into trying it on. Of course I just had to get it. It's from the Malene Birger winter 2006 collection. Isn't it lovely?

LAMB spring 2007

The LAMB spring line was presented at the New York Fashion Week September 15.
According to Gwen one of the inspirations for the new pieces is Michelle Pfeiffer's '70s look in the 1983 gangster classic Scarface. The collection is full of Guatemalan and Japanese prints, Rasta colors and military looks, and includes bags and shoes.

Rock & Republic spring 2007

The R&R spring 2007 collection was presented at olympus fashion week in NY Saturday.
I've been looking so much forward to seeing this and I'm super-excited to see it in the stores this spring. In the meantime, here are some pictures.

Dior rocks the runway

I love the Christian Dior's autumn/winter collection. It's very rock 'n roll and goth inspired. Check out a few pictures from the fashion show in Paris.

Oversized

One of the trickiest trends to wear this season is the voluminous oversized one. A good tip is to never combine it with other wide/oversized garments. With oversized sweater dresses and tops a waist belt looks good. Personally, I don't think it looks flattering on anyone.

Lip fusion

I've been looking for a good lip gloss for a long time and in NY i bought one that I'm really pleased with. It's called Lip fusion. In addition to being a good moisturizing and lasting gloss it contains collagen. The collagen micro spheres are absorbed by the lips and when re-hydrated, they're suppose to plump and hold onto the moisture they've collected, creating a mild "swelling" of the lip tissue.
It's now also available in Norway so I suggest you give it a try if you're looking for a new lip gloss.

Winter necessities

A nice accessory for winter is a pair of long leather gloves. Black is always a safe winner but red is a great alternative. You can find a lot of red accessories this season so it should be easy to match them with a bag or a scarf.

Hot mama

So nice to see Gwen back in good old style. Out for a walk with Gavin and Kingston a couple of days ago. She's wearing LAMB jeans, LAMB bracelets, LAMB shoes, LAMB watch and there's even a LAMB bag on the stroller.

Bavac news

Check out the new spring 2006 collection from Bavac. It seems the designers of active wear have finally figured it out. Even if it is a hiking/outdoors garment it doesn't have to be colourless and fit like a tent...

2. Nice mens shirt with chopper print

UPDATE: This line was featured in the first episode of "71 grader nord" so if you want one, grab it fast.

New shoes part 2

I'd just started looking for a new pair of boots when I found these. They fulfilled all my criterias: black leather, knee-high and last but not least comfortable (suited for for everyday use). My plan was to buy a pair on my Oslo-trip next week but I think I'll go for this pair.

Hair trend

Hairstyles with bangs are making a comeback on the Paris, Milan och New York runways. The most expressive style is a heavy bang cut straight across ended just below the eyebrow.
